Apparently Christian blogger Dr Eowyn of Fellowship Of The Minds, and her team, have “breached community guidelines”. Their blog has been completely removed by WordPress. I wonder what possible thought crime they might have committed to receive such a punishment?
Another blog I sometimes visit has also been shut down, and several more which I didn’t know but which were providing commentary on political and social matters – speaking the truth as they see it – have also been removed. This is a purge – WordPress is no longer a bastion of free speech.
WordPress also shut down the interim blog which Dr Eowyn started to keep her community together.
WordPress used to take the attitude that anything could be said on its platform and if others don’t like it, they can start their own blog. Sadly I suspect that the powers that be are threatening to hold WordPress responsible for it’s content. That means the internet is only safe for the left, and no one else. Right wing thought is “wrongthink” and Christian thought especially perhaps.
It’s also noticeable that the number of visitors to this blog has fallen dramatically from the start of the year – as most visitors find blog posts through Google, it would seem that Christian thought is also being de-platformed by the search engine giant as well.
And most dramatic of all was the discovery yesterday that Stefan Molyneux’s YouTube channel is under threat with two strikes. He found this out yesterday and put a video out on BitChute to let his followers know. He’s worked so hard, and he’s a sensible guy who is careful, measured and facts based in what he says. There is no excuse for any attack on him – except that he’s just come back from a tour of Australia in which he talked about the issues and problems of multiculturalism (which is satan’s plan for white genocide). Now he’s being targeted for content which is not even recent! The strikes he’s received are for videos which are months and years old, and which didn’t offend anyone until this week. Amazing.
We are being de-platformed. This de-platforming is going to lead to the destruction of ideas, and of discussion. The next generation will not even be challenged to think let alone what to think.
So what to do?
As Christians we have to take a pragmatic view of this. What would have happened to Jesus on these social media platforms? He would have been silenced. His way of getting heard was to speak to people direct, and if they liked it or didn’t like it He didn’t stay in any one place too long. In fact it was the further afield places where He was best received, and not in His home town. We should note this.
We should be prepared to speak the truth and then walk away. This blog has served its purpose, and if it was shut down tomorrow I would start another somewhere else. The message will reach those God chooses to hear it. My words are not important, truly it’s only the bible that is. Everything else just points to a) the fallen state of the world and b) there is a better way and it’s through Christ to the Father. Nothing else matters. If we are de-platformed we can just start again. We must trust that the message will reach whom God wants it to.
We also need to face the fact that at some point the internet it going to become dangerous to us. I have said before that the intentions of satan through the internet and through these platforms – it is to control thought. Satan wants us to take his mark. So there will come a time when we need to flee from this anyway. When will that time be? Only God knows, and we, again, have to trust God to guide us. We can’t rely on preachers to say it – you must rely on God direct to do this. He will help you.
One of the hardest things for those involved in these platforms is the loss of community. This is deliberate – this is designed to isolate us and cause us distress. The online world was designed to do this. So we must be prepared to lose our connections and trust that we will find those people again elsewhere. We must trust that God will bring alongside us those we need and who need us. We must make real efforts in the real world to create community – even with those who are not like minded. I believe our survival may depend on this – a friend a thousand miles away may be a better friend than anyone you have ever known, but they won’t be able to help you when the lights go out.
Let’s take this purge as a sign – a warning – that we need real world contacts and friends, and that we must be available to those in need away from the virtual world. And if your tribe is elsewhere, maybe it’s time to get ready to move to be near those people rather than relying on cables and wires which are controlled by satan and the left who worship him.
God Bless you
