The city of Linz in Lower recorded nearly 600% percent more votes for the Presidential elections on Sunday than there were registered voters in a special category into which mainly elderly, bedridden people and postal votes fall.
Linz results show that 21060 votes were cast for a total of only 3518 registered voters in the category of “Special zone” or “area”.
The overwhelming majority of these votes were cast for establishment candidate Alexander van der Bellen at 14,533 votes.
Elderly, bedridden people who send others to vote for them or cast postal votes are placed into this special category, according to local media.
The massive inflation in the number of postal votes and votes allegedly cast elderly bed ridden people compared to the number of actual registered voters is fuelling speculation of voter fraud in Austria.
